Professional Narrative
A Story of Strategy, Data, and Purpose
I am a strategic advisor who loves diving into complex problems. My career has been about learning how organizations work, from the smallest data point to the highest strategic decision. It’s a blend of deep data analysis, rigorous management consulting, and the advanced critical thinking developed through long-term academic research.
The Analytical Roots (2005–2011)
My professional journey started right out of university with a focus on quantitative analysis. At Unibanco, I worked as a Process Analyst, learning how simple key performance indicators (KPIs) could be implemented to measure and improve customer satisfaction in banking services.
I quickly cemented this data-driven focus at Nielsen Market Research (2007–2009). As a Market Research Analyst, I put my Statistics background to use, performing the complex data mining and interpretation of extensive databases that supported pricing and promotion strategies for major clients like Nestlé and Johnson & Johnson.
From there, I moved into hands-on project leadership at Compsis Automotive Technology (2009–2011). I served as the Project Manager and key account manager, which was intense training in cross-functional communication—my job was to act as the liaison, making sure the multidisciplinary teams and the board of directors were always speaking the same language.
Consulting Rigour and Corporate Scale (2011–2015)
The consulting rigour truly began during my four years at Deloitte Consulting as a Strategy & Operations Manager. This was the ultimate training in structured thinking and high-stakes strategy. I executed over 20 commercial strategy projects for large corporate clients, building the actual operational infrastructure, including advanced profitability models and tiered pricing structures, that helped drive gross margin expansion. I also directed complex corporate transformations, like leading a salesforce integration project after a merger by modeling optimized territories in Excel, effectively finding and removing operational waste and redundancy.
The Intellectual Deep Dive (2018–Present)
After my time at Deloitte, I took a step back from the pure corporate track for a period of focused learning and intellectual development. This began with a Master of Arts in Theological Studies (2019) and led to my pursuit of a PhD in Theology at the Vrije Universiteit in Amsterdam, where I reached the All But Dissertation (ABD) stage.
Why the academic focus? This intensive journey was the ultimate exercise in complex research, critical thinking, and the translation of massive, abstract ideas into clear, usable frameworks. This intellectual discipline—the ability to find structure and meaning in vast amounts of information—is a unique skill I bring back to strategy today.
Program Execution and Mission-Driven Impact (2018–2023)
I immediately applied this hybrid skillset to leadership roles within mission-driven organizations.
As the Program Manager at Regent College (2018–2022), I led the successful program redesign and managed the challenging transition from in-person to fully online delivery during the pandemic. Critically, my data analysis skills identified new markets in the U.S., revealing a potential 30% market expansion opportunity for one of our educational products, demonstrating how quantitative analysis can directly drive a mission-focused outcome. I also co-chaired the Strategic Direction Working Group for A Rocha International (2022–2023), successfully uniting 22 independent country teams to formulate the global organization's five-year strategic direction.
Current Practice (2024–Present)
Today, through my consulting firm, Quilombo Management Consulting, my work focuses extensively on strategic organizational practices for leaders. This practice has allowed me to partner with a wonderfully diverse range of non-profits. I love using my data and strategy background to give these organizations a clear, executable framework that ensures their purpose translates into sustainable results.
As I consulted with leaders from diverse backgrounds, I started noticing another trend. Most of them were depleted by the mission of their organization and didn’t have much to offer back. Facing that reality, I decided to dive deeper into my coaching skills and went through a Wellness Coaching training program out of the Mayo Clinic and have already seen the fruits with my clients.
